Lemon Risotto & Limoncello

There may be nothing better than Spring in the South! Being a newly transplanted Midwesterner to the South..... "Spring" is a foreign word. Temperatures are mild, the smell of Dogwood and Cherry Blossoms trees fill the air with their sweet, pungent aromas. Trees and mosses burst with a green hue that almost hurts my eyes. The rain falls delicately down while the birds sing in harmony..........and then I discovered THE WORST ALLERGY SEASON OF MY LIFE! The itch in the throat, the nasal drip, the coughing, sneezing, eye watering blindness, the pollen so thick on my car I need to use my wipers at full speed to get it off. My god make it STOP!!!

Yes, Spring in the South is something you need to see to believe, but only while consuming heavy doses of Allegra or Zyrtec or Claritin...preferably all at once.  So today I needed a little "midwest" comfort. I pretended it was Spring in Chicago and closed my windows (put the air on to pretend it was cold) and made a soothing Lemon Risotto for din din. I love risotto all different ways, but Deb Perelman over there at Smitten Kitchen makes it the best! If you have not checked out her food blog you MUST!

Grapefruit Goodness

It's Wednesday......not the best day of the week. The coffee was out, the kids were crabby, so what better day than today to whip up a batch of the Sour Puss Pucker Pots! Now I am not a huge fan of eating actual grapefruit. Yes, I know it's good for you and the benefits from the vitamins are amazing, but every time I buy a grapefruit my family and I just watch it slowly rot away in the fruit bowl... too afraid to touch the sour bitterness of it all.

There is however the gorgeous color and sweet smell of the grapefruit that I love. Which inspires me to create the same in our Sour Puss Pucker Pot. Sweet citrus notes without the hint of sour and a beautiful pink grapefruit color to boot!

Lavender Pucker Pots

5 of my Favorite Facts about Lavender Essential Oils:

Lavender is one of my favorite fragrances, especially in body products.  I usually have a lip balm and hand lotion along with a candle containing lavender oils on my nightstand.  I also travel with a lavender infused linen spray for those overnight work trips where I am stuck in a hotel.  I was quite surprised when I did some research on lavender essential oils. This oil produces so many overall wellness attributes, I just had to share.....  So here are my top 5 favorite reasons to love Lavender…it is also in our Live Love Lavender Pucker Pot.

Tulips Apothecary Is Born

It all started in the land where it seems all good ideas are formed, the land where simple or crazy ideas somehow morph into something genius after a few too many cocktails are consumed in the waning afternoon sun.  It's the land where sequins are appropriate in the middle of the day.  Where a $14 Bloody Mary with bacon, small sausages, shrimp, a sirloin, and a full veggie salad is considered a "good" lunch (I was kidding about the sirloin, but it got you thinking...right!).  Yes, the land I speak of is Vegas and this time what happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas.

So here is what you need to know, we are
Tulips Apothecary.  And the "We" in this venture is made up of my sister and I and as you probably guessed...we spent a few days in Vegas!  My sister is a corporate chick living in Irvine, CA...La La Land as I like to call it!  She is married with two furry, barking babies and is constantly on the go with work.  Always flying here and there.  As for me, I am a married stay-at-home momma of three small ones living in Alpharetta, GA...Domestic Goddess as my sister likes to call it!
You are probably curious to know how I made a Vegas weekend work with three small one under 6 years of age? I don't really know, but lucky for me my courageous hubby documented the weekend on Facebook! So a girls weekend in Vegas it was and at least I have one pic to prove I was there...
